Before you toss it… save it ♻️✨ Upcycled items = the BEST fine motor tools 🌱🖐️ SAVE this for later + share with a fellow parent 💚 ♻️ Insert toothpicks into an empty spice container. Targeting the small holes works on hand-eye coordination. Picking up the toothpicks helps develop pencil grasp. ♻️ Save those parmesan cheese containers and turn them into a frog or monster to feed with small objects! Such a fun way to work on pincer grasp. Hide beads in play-doh for an added challenge and more tactile sensory input. ♻️ Print out a fun picture and tape it to the top of a carry out or yogurt container to create a target for transferring small objects into with tongs. This is a fun way to develop hand strength. ♻️ Save that junk mail! Tearing works on coordinating both hands together. Crumple up paper to target in-hand manipulation skills. To increase the challenge, have your child tear or cut thick cardstock pieces of junk mail. #pedsOT #pediatricOT #occupationaltherapy #playbasedtherapy #WestBloomfieldMI

🍀 What better way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day than with Rainbow Rice? ☘️ Rainbow Rice Recipe 🌈 What you’ll need: 🍚 1 cup uncooked rice 🫙 1 teaspoon white vinegar 🟠 Food coloring 🥣 Mix rice, vinegar, and several drops of one color of food coloring in a sealed plastic bag. ⏲️ Shake until coated fully and spread on a tray to dry for 1–2 hours. 🔄 Repeat for each color you wish to use and mix them all together. #occupationaltherapy #pedsot #playbasedtherapy #pediatricot #socialpediatrictherapy 🍀🌈
